SC139

This is my card for SC139. I used the hat boxes from cool cat as presents. I should have used close to cocoa for the words happy birthday instead of celery because you can't really see them. I distressed the edges of the layers and sponged chocolate chip over the card and all the layers. I really like this look. This card isn't my "style" but I really like how it turned out.

Stamps: Cool Cat, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Paper: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla, Bo Bunny DP

"6th of the Month Swap"

I am in a 6th of the month card swap. There are 6 of us and we make 6 cards and send them to the other 5 people individually by the 6th of every month. This is the card I made for the September swap. I am so in love with this paper. I am going to have to get some more. I added some red stickles to the giraffe's spots. I haven't used stickles in a while, I was going through glitter withdrawls. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to put the bird on the giraffe's tail and fir the greeting. These stamp sets some of the "few" sets that I have that are current. I seriosly need new stamps.
Stamps: Wild About You, Happy Everything
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Whisper White, Bo Bunny DP
Ink: Real Red, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Prima, Silver Brad, Stickles, Red and Light Pink Grosgrain Ribbon, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

"Puppy Birthday"

I made this for my neighbors daughter for her 6th birthday. She loves dogs. The dog stamp is the stampendous clear stamps. The greeting is a Hero Arts stamp. The paw embossing is done with the Fiskers texture plates. I was going to do the whole background but it is hard to use the texture plates and the tool with the SU paper because it is to thick. So I just used a stylus and did them all by hand. That way I could only do half of the card and do it like I wanted. I think it turned out cute.
Stamps: Stampendous Clear Stamps, Hero Arts
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories: SU Markers, Giga and Mega Scallop Square, Red Gingham and Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Fiskers Texture Plates, Stylus, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

"Friends Forever"

I am love with the Bo Bunny paper. I bought like 6 pieces the other day. I didn't even realize that it is double sided until I made two cards. Duh. Now I love it even more. I put some bling in the center of the primas and one on the flower in her hair. I colored the image with prisma colored pencils but I didn't blend them with Gamsol. I would have but I misplaced it. I got this Bella image from my friend Kristine. She is so good to me. This card is for you Kristine. I met her through a yahoo group a couple years ago. She lives about 6 hours from me. We have gotten together a couple times to stamp and I am going to her house next month for Splitcoast's VSN (virtual stamp night) I can't wait. I haven't done one before so I am excited.

"My Take On Clear Stamps"

A lot of people are getting the clear stamps. I just started to use them. For the most part I do like them but they took a little bit of practice to get a good image. Some of them you can ink up and they work perfect. Others you have to use them several times to get a good image. What I noticed on a few of my clear stamps was that when I stamped them, the image spread out and the outline line was a bit thicker than it should be. I don't know if I was pushing it too hard on the paper or it is supposed to look like that. I also noticed some didn't ink up good at all. What I do now is ink my image on the clear stamp and then stamp some scrap paper to see what kind of image I am going to get. If it isn't a good one, I take an eraser and rub the stamp and then ink it up and it is a better image. I do that the first time I use it, not every time. I think that some of them are so shiny that they don't take the ink properly but after rubbing an eraser on it it seemed to work.

Overall I do like the clear stamps. I like that you can see where it is going to go and I don't have to use the stamp-a-ma-jig with them. I also like that you can shape them. For instance, if you have a greeting that you want to make curvy instead of straight you can. Of if you have flower stems, you can shape them so they don't all look the same. That is a good option. I would say that if you are new to clear stamps. Get some scratch paper and stamp away so you can see how it will look. I would also rub the eraser on all the images before I ink them for the first time to get the shiny off and so they will take the ink better. So, that is my take on clear stamps. If you have any other advice on them or another opinion, feel free to let me know.

"SCS SC138"

This is the card I made for last weeks Splitcoast sketch challenge. I kinda like it but I think it is too busy and I don't really like the stamp I picked. I think I might have to try another one. The greeting is Stampendous clear stamps.

Stamps: Tags & More, Stampendous
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: SU Markers, Silver and Red Brads, Giga and Mega Scallop Punch, SU Gel Pen, Ticket Corner Punch

We didn't get the wireless hooked up this weekend. We ended up taking 4 trips to Best Buy. We read the directions on how to hook it up. It said 5 easy steps. We got to step 2 and were lost. Step one is plug in the power. Step two is unplug the Internet cord from the computer and plug it into the back of the router. We have a USB plug for our Internet. There is no USB port in the router. So we went to Best Buy and got a Internet cord. The cord fit but now we don't have Internet. So we called the wireless people. They told us to get a cross over cable and bring back the other one we got. So back to Best Buy to get the crossover cable. That didn't work either. Back to Best Buy to find out what is going on. The guy was confused. He said, I don't know why it doesn't work. It should work unless you have Frontier or something like that. Guess what? We have fontier. AGH!!! So we called Frontier. Apparently, they have a wireless, DSL modem in one. So we are going to get that. They are sending it to us. So I will be going back to Best Buy today to return the wireless router, two cords, and the wireless for the laptop. Does anything go smooth anymore? I think not.

"Layout Challenged"

I made this card last night, it took me almost two and a half hours. Seriously. Here's why. I got some new paper yesterday and I couldn't wait to make a card with it. I knew that I wanted to use this Bella image that I got from Kristine with my new paper. Here is the problem. I am very layout challenged. I seem to make the same layouts over and over. Which is fine, but I would like to do something different once in a while. Ya know, mix it up a little. Why didn't I just go to SCS and look at some of the past sketch challenges? I really wanted to but my husband was on the computer and my lap top isn't connected to the Internet. So I sat here cutting out pieces, putting them on, not liking them and changing them around. Then I took a break or two, got back to my card. Here is what I came up with. Today we are going to Best Buy and getting wireless Internet connection for the laptop. Woo Hoo!!! So, tonight while I am trying to think of a good layout, I can go to the laptop and look at some past challenges. I can't wait.

"I got Happy Mail"

My mail was sitting in my mail box for 4 days. Someone snapped a key off in my lock and I couldn't get to my mail. The mail carrier came by yesterday and brought me a ton of mail and what was mixed in with all the junk and bills? Two very cool Bella RAK's. I got this first one from Kristine. It was jam packed with stamped Bella images. I couldn't wait to tear into it. I knew they were in there and it was just killing me that I couldn't get into my mail box. Thank you soooooo much Kristine. I can't wait to play. Isn't her card so cute? She made it from her monthly kit that she gets from Papperpretties. Kristine is also one of their design team members. Way to go Kristine. They sure knew what they were doing when they choose you.

This very cool Blogger RAK I got from the talented Susanna Boyd over at Barefoot Stamper. I love her card. She stamped the images on pattern paper and cut them out and glued them on to their dresses. What a very cool look. Great colors and great card. I love the paper she used and the colors are beautiful. Thank you Susanna for thinking of me and sending me this great card.

"Ugly Bird in Purple"

I know "Ugly Bird" is getting cuter. I like him in purple. I got the primas from Joann's on clearance a while back. My friend Shelly told me to make the image crooked. I was apprehensive at first. I like straight lines. But it was a good call by her. I like the card. The greeting is a Penny Black stamp I also picked up on vacation. I also added stickles on his belly. You know me, I love stickles.

"Check out JoAnna's Blog"

I was surfing blogs the other day and I came across JoAnna's Creative Expressions You have to check her out. JoAnna does a lot of 3D and gift items and she finds the coolest things to alter. I thought I would share her blog with you. She has great ideas and she is very talented.

"Smile and Say Hello"

Here is another card I made on vacation. I almost posted them all. I think I have three left. Then I guess I will have to start making cards again. I haven't stamped since we got back. Well, I did one SCS challenge but that is it. I hope to stamp this weekend. I need to get a jump start on class room treats for Halloween and Christmas. I have a kindergartner and a first grader. So I will be making 40 total of what ever I plan to do. Uff da. (Minnesotan slang) LOL

"Ugly Bird Goes West"

I thought it was time for another "Ugly Bird" card. I think this one is cute. I couldn't stop laughing when I got done with this card. My friend Shelly gave me the hat stamp a couple years ago and I haven't used it until now. Well, actually I used hers when I was at her house but I have one too. The paisley stamp is also hers. It is a Hero Arts stamp. I don't know who makes the hat stamp.

"Opposites Attract"

Here are a couple more Bella’s that I made on vacation. I don’t have this Bella, I got the image from my friend Kristine. I think this chick looks so crabby. I just had to use the greeting “Have a nice day” I thought it was funny. When I made these cards, I first colored the images. I didn’t know which one I was going to go with so I decided to use both and make the cards opposite. I really like the celery one the best. The banana one is cute too but the celery one is way cuter. There is also stickles on her slippers but you can’t see it in the scan.

Stamps: Stamping Bella, Hero Arts
Paper: Certainly Celery, Barley Banana, Whisper White

How's it goin'?"

I made this for my friend Darlene, she is a HUGE frog fan. When I was a kid, I used to collect frogs. Real ones. We had a lot growing up in our yard. I used to love catching them and keeping them for a couple days then setting them free and catching more. Darlene has a whole house full of frogs. Figurines, pictures, dishes, and even real ones. She has thousands of them. Not thousands of real ones. Thousands of not real ones. LOL She just had a birthday and I sent her this card. I know she will love it. I don't own this stamp set. My friend Kristine was kind enough to let me stamp some of these images. The Prima is also from her. Thanks Kristine.

"Game On Kindergarten Mom"

Ok, Thursday night we went to the kindergarten orientation. Kids in another class room and the parents in their classroom. I had a kindergartner last year so I knew what was going to go on. They have things posted on the board for the parents to sign up for. You take the note and put your name on the back if you want to do them. Things like developing film, bringing certain snacks for certain lessons that they will be learning, or things that they need for projects. One of the tags was for "Scrapbook Mom" I was just staring at it. I want to be scrapbook mom. You don't actually make the scrapbook, you just volunteer in the class and glue their projects in the books. That's it. No stamping, no embellishments, you just glue. Well, I know that I am the best gluier for the job. So I want it. My goal is to get that tag. I'm in the front row so it is mine. It is now 6:30 and the teacher said, you can all go and get your kids and bring them back to the class to do their scavenger hunt. The kids have to find things in the class like the bathroom, their cubbie, where they sit, the calendar and things like that. When the parents go to get their kids, I am going to get that scrapbook mom tag. The teacher is done talking, the parents start to get up. I get up and start to walk to the tag, when out of no where, this one mom dashes right by me and practically runs me over and grabs that scrapbook mom tag off the board and writes her name on it before I even got to the board. I was in shock. What just happened? How did she get there first? Who does she think she is? Why didn't I trip her on her way to the board? All these questions were going through my mind as I was standing there in disbelief. I didn't get scrapbook mom. I ended up signing up for the red snack that they will be having in September when they talk abut the color red. BORING!! Oh well. So here is my plan. I am getting a printer cartridge this weekend and I am going to be printing out templates and patterns like crazy. I am going to show up that scrapbook mom who took my job. I am going to make the cutest things for the class. She is going to be so jealous. I am going to show her who is the crafty mom in the class. So GAME ON KINDERGARTEN MOM....GAME ON!!!! LOL

"Enjoy Your Day"

I haven't posted a Bella in a while. Here are two that I made that are kinda opposite. I like the first one but the second one bugs me. I think it is the squares. I should have done it in orange and red. I think that would have looked better. The greeting stamp is a clear one from Michael's. The funky squares are a Cuttlebug die cut. I love it but haven't figured out what to do with it yet. It is almost the weekend. I can't wait. I don't know how much stamping I will get done beacuse we are cleaning the garage this weekend, but I love the weekend. So enjoy your day ladies. Eat some bon bons and have a martini. LOL

"Jumpin' Jellyfish"

I finally found the bubble cuttlebug embossing folder. I have wanted it forever. It goes so well with the fish stamps. I used stickles on the body of the jellyfish. The stickles I used was called icicle I don't care for it too much, the glitter is big and chunky. But it worked for this card. The greeting is a Hero Arts stamp. I punched it out with the CM circle punches. I love the colors of this card and of course I love the layout. I use it all the time. The mat behind the scallop oval was made from the CM cutting tools.

"Monkey Love"

I love these monkeys. I got this stamp when I was in MN at a place called Anchor Paper. It was by far the best stamp store I went to in MN. They are a huge paper distributor. They have a warehouse attached that sells bulk paper and envelopes. I was in awe when I went in there. I bought a box of 250 envelopes for $21 and they look just like SU's envelopes. They also sell paper scraps for $1 a pound. I think they are the left over scraps from projects that they have done for companies. They are odd sizes and they have different ones daily. I found all the stamps that were on my wish list there. I spent $97 and Shelly spent a little over $100. We were talking to the girls at the register about how much I loved the store and that I was from out of town. They were super nice. They gave each of us free stuff. I got a 5 pack of ribbon, a Jolee's sticker pack, and a single Hero Arts stamp. Shelly got a 5 pack of ribbon and a set of clear stamps. I am pretty sure we both got about $10 in free stuff. I am so going back there the next time I am in MN.

"This Little Piggie"

Another card I made on vacation. This cute Piggie stamp belongs to my friend Shelly. I think it is soooo cute. It is a Penny Black stamp. I used the Stylized Flowers Embossing Folder on this one. and colored it in with the SU markers. I got the prima from my friend Kristine and put a jeweled brad in the middle to match. I think it turned out great. I am a little frustrated today. For some reason my computer crashes when I want to post a card. I can change the layout and do everything else and it is fine but when I go to post a card, it crashes. So I have to hook up the laptop and post from there. I have had to do that for three days now. AGH!!! It's better than nothing I guess. It is just a hassle.

"Bling Bling Bella"

I love the look of this card. I found the bling at Archiver's and I thought I would use it on this card. I cuttlebugged the background and colored the image with SU Markers. I also had to use my black dotted ribbon. I just love it. I think the card turned out great. I made this one while I was on vacation in MN. The greeting stamp is from Hero Arts. It is from a 6 pack of greeting stamps.

This is another one of Shelly's stamps. It is a clear one but I don't know who makes it. The greeting is also a clear stamp. I love Regal Rose and Rose Red together. It is one of my favorite combos. The cuttlebug background matches perfect with this stamp too. I colored the butterfly with markers and added stickles, of course. The black brads are the perfect addition as well. Oh, I also did the doodling. The edges looked bare.

"All My Goodies"

This is all the goodies that I bought while on vacation. I hit the jackpot. I got lots of gingham and dotted ribbon. My Joann's has the gingham ribbon but doesn't have the dotted ribbon. So I got a lot of black and brown. I also got tons of stamps. Stampendous and Hero Arts were the most popular with me. My Michael's doesn't have the clear stampes either so I had to take advantage of that deal. I also got two new cuttlebug embossing folders, and two die cuts for the cuttlebug. I found a bunch of colored brads too that match the SU paper..... so I got them too. I really had a blast shopping. I did have a couple things on my list before I arrived. I mainly wanted the clear stamps and a couple of the stampendous stamps. I got a lot more than I bargained for, that's for sure. Not pictured is a box of 250 envelopes that I got for $21. They look just like SU's envelopes. I also got some clear envelopes and some of those plastic covers. They are like the checkbook covers but they are for gift cards. They are hard to explain so I will have to make some this weekend and show you what I am talking about.

"Hang in There"

I love this little guy. I got him while I was on vacation. Both the monkey and the greeting are stampendous stamps. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the greeting centered. I also cut the background cuttlebuged piece, I thought it would look like a vine. I really like how it turned out. I seem to use a lot of bright colors too so I was trying to use some of the other colors that I seem to ignore. I think they work great with this little monkey.

"Ugly Bird in Pink"

You asked for it. More "Ugly Bird" When I got the "Ugly Bird" stamp, I didn't like him. So I challenged myself to learn to like him and to make cute cards with him. I love how this one turned out. I love the colors. I have made 6 cards with him and each one is better than the one before. I colored "Ugly Bird" with markers and filled in his belly with stickles. I think it is cute. I hope you all have a great day. Stay tuned for more "Ugly Bird"

"Coral Birthday"

I love these colors together. I made this card on vacation. I think these are Shelly's stamps. I didn't bring a lot of stamps with me, I wanted to use hers and then buy some while I was there. So I will have to check to see if I have this one. I don't think I do though. Ok, I just checked and I do own this one. Woo Hoo! I really like the font for this one. I colored the cake with SU markers and then took my SU gel pen and added the polka dots. I think it looks cute with the dots. Of course I also added stickles on the candles. I also think the yellow brads added the perfect touch.

"Bee Happy"

These bees are so cute. They make me smile and want to bee happy. The first one is my favorite. I colored them with markers and added stickles to their wings to add a little shimmer. The bee happy greeting with the bee is from $1 clear stamps. I the tag is a sizzix tag die cut, and of course I had to use the cuttlebug. If you look closely, you can see some ink above the scallop circle. I stamped the bee happy greeting then ran it through the cuttlebug. It looked terrible so I tried to cover it up with the scallop circle. It was close but it still shows a little.
Stamps: Rubber Stampede, clear stamps
Paper: Creamy Carmel, Close to Cocoa, Summer Sun, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Embossing Folders, Giga and Mega Scallop Circle, SU Markers, Stickles, Sizzix tag die cuts, Silver Cord

This one is cute too. I also added stickles to his wings. The Bee Happy greeting is from Stampendous. It matches perfectly. I used the really rust paper so it would match the flower pot. I have been trying to use more of the earthy colors since they aren't my favorite.

"Blue Bubble Fishy"

This is one of the cards I made on vacation. Isn't it cute? I love the bubbles. The bubble punch is from Creative Memories. It is so much fun. The card is Bashful Blue and the top piece is Ballet Blue. I cut the Ballet Blue and then punched the holes, attached the ribbon then pasted it to the Bashful Blue card. My friend Shelly is a CM consultant so she has all the cool stuff. I was going to order this punch from her but I totally forgot. I think I am still going to have to do that. I love the look. I bought a bunch of gingham ribbon while we were out shopping and Shelly gave me a challenge to use at least one color gingham ribbon on my cards. So here is the first one I made. I also added stickles to some of the fishes fins.

"Hello Friend"

Isn't this a cute stamp? It's one of the new stamps that I got on my vacation. I gotta tell you, I love pink, orange, and yellow together. It is so fun. Shelly has a cuttlebug so I brought all my embossing folders. I use a sizzix for embossing and this was the first time I used a cuttlebug. The cuttlebug makes a deeper embossed image. I think I might have to get one now. I cuttlebugged the yellow and orange, then cut out the orange to match and matted it. I know you have seen this layout from me before. I seem to use it a lot and I mean a lot. When I was making the cards with Shelly, we were laughing because I seem to use the same layout all the time. I just get stuck on something and can't change. But why change a good thing right?

"Ugly Bird"

Ok, This is "Ugly Bird" Am I right?

So, here is the story behind "Ugly Bird" My friend Shelly and I were shopping at the Mall of America a couple weeks ago and we were in Archivers. I was looking for a couple of particular stamps. I was very disappointed in Archivers. The last time I was in one was two years ago when I was back for a visit and I was also with Shelly. They had a ton of stamps, but this time there wasn't many at all. So Shelly says, "you should get this cute bird stamp". I was like, "it isn't cute, it is an ugly long legged bird" She laughed. I told her I couldn't get it because it didn't have a price. So Shelly made me go ask how much the "Ugly Bird" stamp was. So I asked the lady and she said it was $6.99. So, I decided to get the stupid "Ugly Bird" stamp (since it was only $6.99). I challenged myself to learn to like it and maybe love it. So this is the first card I made with "Ugly Bird" I like how the card turned out too. I still think the bird is ugly, but I did manage to make a good looking card with it. I think the stamp goes perfect with the paper. The "Ugly Bird" is from Hero Arts. I didn't notice that until I bought it. They make cute stamps too. I don't know what happened this time when they made this "Ugly Bird" stamp. LOL I have made about 6 different cards with "Ugly Bird" Each one cutier than the last one. "Ugly Bird" is growing on me. I can't wait to share them with you. I have made some funny and cute cards with him.
