I absolutely love it here. The only thing I don't like is the humidity. I really miss my dry heat. I haven't done a whole lot of stamping since we moved in. My two youngest are in softball and that pretty much consumed most of my free time. The girls all have adjusted well here and they love their school. It's so different for them than when we were in Cali. They take a bus to school and home, they have hallways (indoor school) they have lockers and swings on the playground. They said that they are going to a school like they see on TV. They only went to school for 2 months before summer vacation but I did get a chance to make the teachers a little something and I also made something for the bus driver. I have to locate the pictures though, they are on my old laptop, then I will post them. I also made a gift set for each of the 12 girls on Sarah's softball team. I didn't make anything for Molly's team this year. I didn't have much time or enough paper. Oh well, her team will get them for sure in the spring. Thanks for sticking with me in my absence. I miss you all.
RochelleRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-46283001012241122372010-03-09T07:25:00.000-08:002010-03-09T07:29:55.890-08:00Moving Day Is Almost HereOk, the past couple months have been such a whirlwind. I came back to MN for my grandma's funeral last week and Katie and I drove down to Iowa to find us a house to rent. It is harder than I thought. I can't seem to find more than 4 places to look at. So we have expanded to town homes and apartments. I have 4 appointments today so wish me luck. I fly back to California on Thursday to get the house stuff all in order and then close on the house in a couple weeks and drive to MN to get my girls and go to our house in IA. I am leaving the girls with grandma while I go back to CA. So, I won't be posting for a while but you can bet as soon as I get settled and unpacked I will be back to stamping. I miss it so much. Thanks for sticking it out with me and being patient while I have been away. Can't wait to re-connect with you all again soon.
Take Care,
RochelleRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-38574032166187798182010-02-06T09:00:00.000-08:002010-02-06T09:00:02.233-08:00"Girl Scout Week- Gift Sets"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 237px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/S2iJDdUDXzI/AAAAAAAAEc4/uWs6NRg8Zvc/s320/IMG_5062_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433743642923851570" />
These are the completed gift sets for the Girl Scouts. I had so much fun making these for the girls. Molly passed them out on Tuesday and the girls loved them. The treat boxes were filled with two bag toppers, a peppermint sammich, gum holder, and RSVP pen. You can find the directions for the items from the previous posts from this week. Now I need another project. Maybe I will do some Valentine treats for the teachers. They do love to get gifts and I love making them.
Stamps: Make New Friends (retired CTMH) Girl Power (retired Stampin' Up)
Paper: Glorious Green, Close To Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Glorious Green, Close To Cocoa, Stazon Black
Accessories: SU Scallop Circle Punch, SU Circle Punches, Word Window Punch, Tacky Tape, Micro Beads, Heat Gun, Address Label, Trident Gum, Hershey Nuggets, Brads, Green Apple Grosgrain Ribbon, Ziploc Baggies, M&M's, York Peppermint Patties, SU Markers, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, RSVP Pen, Glue DotsRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-9557688202968417502010-02-05T09:00:00.000-08:002010-02-05T09:00:00.117-08:00"Girl Scout Week - RSVP Pens"
I love love love making these pens. The Girl Scout image is from the retired Close To My Heart stamp set Make New Friends and I colored them with SU Markers. Here are the directions on how to make the pens. The only thing I do different now is I buy tacky tape sheets instead of using the roll tape. I get the tacky tape sheets at Oriental Trading Company. You get 3 8 1/2 x 11 sheets for $4.95. It is a super deal. They always sing the make new friends song at the end of their meetings. You know the one I'm talking about, "Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the others gold. A circle's round, it has no end, that's how long I want to be your friend." The stamp set has part of the Make new friends poem. It is from the retired Close To My Heart clear set called Make New Friends. I also thought it would be fun to use one silver brad and one gold one to hold the topper closed. To tie in the song, I bet the girls won't even notice that I did that and I don't think you can see it in the picture either.

I filled these bag toppers with stamped Hershey Nuggets. I stamped on labels and wrapped them around the nuggets. I buy the labels at Walmart, Target or Walgreens. They are in the pen isle usually. I buy the 1 x 3 inch labels. I buy my baggies at Joann's. They come in a 100 pack for $1.50 in the jewelry/bead isle. You can also find them at Walmart in their jewelry/bead isle. They are 3 x 4. The topper is cut 4 x 3 1/4 and score at 2 inches on the 4 inch side. So when you fold it the dimensions are 2 x 3 1/4. The mat is 1 7/8 x 3 1/8 and the stamped piece is 1 3/4 x 3
Stamps: Make New Friends (retired Close To My Heart) Girl Power (retired Stampin' Up)
Paper: Glorious Green, Close To Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Glorious Green, Close To Cocoa
Accessories: Brads, Ziploc Baggies, Hand Held Hole Punch, Hershey Nuggets, Address Labels, Stamp-A-Ma-JigRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-84655524547881876682010-02-03T09:00:00.000-08:002010-02-03T09:00:02.335-08:00"Girl Scout Week - Peppermint Sammiches"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 262px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/S2e26MwrcEI/AAAAAAAAEcg/uLH2XZqjGsQ/s320/IMG_5038_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433512586419859522" />
Once again a super easy candy project for Molly's Girl Scout troops gift set. I make these all the time. The stamp set that I used is a retired Close To My Heart clear set called Make New Friends. When you are looking for the York Peppermint Patties, make sure you find the ones that are completely wrapped in foil and not the ones that are individually wrapped ones in little pouches. Those won't work. To adhere the scallop circles to the peppermint patties I used glue dots. I used a couple cause when I used one sometimes the scallop shifted a little and that annoyed me. Come back tomorrow for another item for the gift set.

Stamps: Make New Friends (retired CTMH)
Paper: Close To Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Glorious Green
Accessories: SU Scallop Punch, SU Circle Punch, Glue Dots, York Peppermint PattiesRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-30418453518225472442010-02-02T09:00:00.000-08:002010-02-02T09:00:00.449-08:00"Girl Scout Week - Gum Holders"
It's the second day of Girl Scout week and today's post is gum holders. I have to say I love making these a lot too. Another super easy project that people love. In case you didn't catch yesterday's post, Molly wanted me to make a gift set for the girls in her troop so they can remember her when she moves. I found the Trident 5 piece pack of gum at the Dollar Tree. They come in a 4 pack for $1. That is the only place I have found them. The bigger 18 stick packs just don't fit. The Dollar Tree has them by the registers and they have several different flavors. Here are my directions on how to make these fun little treats. My youngest daughter wanted me to make something for the girls in her troop to remember her by, since she will be moving soon. So this weekend I came up with a bunch of stuff to fill the treat boxes that I also made. I will be sharing one item each day that will be in the special boxes, as well as the finished set. It was fun to actually make something for a special occasion. It seems like I am just making stuff for no reason and when I am done then I decide what to do with it. I like having projects way better. These are bag toppers. I love making these cause they are so simple and you can put practically anything in them. The stamp set is a long retired Stampin' Up set that I found at a rummage sale several years ago. I found the green M&M's at target on sale this weekend which was nice. I bought 2 bags and that filled my 9 baggies and I even had some to spare. I will probably fill them with candy and give them to the girls teachers. I love making these. I am going to do some for my daughters Girl Scout troop this weekend. I have absolutely nothing planned this weekend, so all I am going to do is stamp...all weekend! Woo Hoo! I am still waiting for the house to sell which is annoying. I hate not having a time line to work with. So, while I wait....I create! Here is the link to the directions that I used for these boxes. I cased the layout and colors for the card from page 15 in the Mini Catalog. I don't have the new heart set so I replaced the heart with a couple butterflies. This is the only like the third time I have used the catalog samples for inspiration. I don't know why I don't do this more often. I am hoping to get some more stamping done this weekend. I was sick most of last week and stuck in bed. I went to the doctor yesterday cause I thought I might have pneumonia. Turns out that I had an ear infection. Which was fine but I didn't know why I spent three days coughing non stop. I coughed so hard some times that I almost passed out. It was weird. Turns out that I had a severe asthma attack and had major bronchial constriction. So I am taking steroids for 5 days, Advair twice a day, and using the nebulizer every 4 hours for the next two weeks. I feel better than I did yesterday cause now I can breathe, but still not a 100%. So this weekend I am going to set up a card table in my room, let the kids have free reign of the house and I am going to rest and stamp!
Stamps: Flight of The Butterfly
Paper: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Butterfly Punch, Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Corner RounderRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-74638280898573226622010-01-21T10:57:00.000-08:002010-01-21T11:06:12.587-08:00"Bo Bunny Birthday"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 310px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/S1ijrRNWKII/AAAAAAAAEb4/H841f5-mJFM/s320/IMG_4987_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429269314544216194" />
I love this layout and I thought it would work with any pattern paper combo but I really don't like these cards. I didn't get to make too many cards though cause I ended up getting a sick on Sunday and have been in bed for the past 3 days with a fever and stuff. I am feeling a little better now but still not 100%. It's a good week to be sick though cause it is rainy, windy and cold here. I really like the layout of this card, it was such a quick card to put together. I also like this color combo. Looks like I will be getting some more of the in colors. I don't know if you can see it very well but I used the paper piercer in the scallops for enhancement, and popped it up on dimensionals, cause I love dimensionals. These cards are easy to make and you could make a bunch at one time to give as a gift to teachers or friends.
Stamps: Riveting
Paper: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Razzleberry Lemonade DP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: SU Scallop Circle Punch, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, Dimensionals, Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon, SU Circle PunchesRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-49618053292510272692010-01-15T09:00:00.000-08:002010-01-15T09:00:03.008-08:00"Great Square Friend"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/S008nPJm4kI/AAAAAAAAEbg/9kYQZFekKvI/s320/IMG_4968_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426059770830709314" />
Here is another card that we made at my last class. Yes, this one I cased too. But in my defense, I haven't stamped in sooooo long that I lost my grove. I almost didn't feel like stamping again. It has been a long year for my poor neglected stamps. I was searching splitcoast for ideas and this card jumped right off the page to me. I cased it from bejoyce (who actually cased it from someone else) LOL I love square cards but I don't make them very often. I loved the layout and the clean lines on this card, I just had to make it. I don't have all the in colors (which is what she used) so I came up with a different color combo. Thanks Carrie and your color wheel! I just noticed that I took a picture of the wrong card, I forgot to put a greeting on this one. Anyway, if there was a greeting, it would be under the Amethyst square.
Stamps: Great Friend
Paper: Almost Amethyst, More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Rose Red, Whisper White
Ink: Stazon BlackRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-84578086446580051462010-01-14T09:00:00.000-08:002010-01-14T09:00:01.781-08:00"Wonderful Friend"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/S006DxkIWGI/AAAAAAAAEbY/p8iusCYJBw4/s320/IMG_4957_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426056962570213474" />
This is another card that we did in my last class. This is a very simple layout and one of those quick cards. I Used the stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the greeting, cut a slit in the top fold of the card for the ribbon and punched the flowers out with the SU trio flower punch. I also added some bling to the middle of the flowers to give them some pizazz. I got the ribbon from Joann's. They have so many different stripes that you could use any color card, which means this would also make an easy card set to make someone for a gift. Which just gave me an idea, I think I will make more in different colors to give to someone. Thanks Rochelle! She used pocket silhouettes and I used garden silhouettes. (I don't have pocket silhouettes) I love the colors that she used for her card. It is one of my favorite color combos. I decided to not make all the projects with a Christmas theme, just in case they want to use it for something else. I only have one more class after this one and then I am done. Just use different stamped images and DP. This week I will be prepping for my Christmas Gifts class. No cards, just cool gifts. I can't wait to share what I make with you. I have lots of ideas, lets hope they all pan out. I am trying to not do the same items as last year since my class is the same people that take it every month. I love love love this layout. It will work for any occasion. All you have to do is change the colors and the stamped background. And it is super easy. The possibilities are endless. It's weird, I have never bought a pack of sage shadow paper in the past 6 years that I have been stamping and in the last month, I have bought 2! It was just a color that I never liked or saw a reason for. But when trying to figure out what pattern paper to use for this card, my friend Carrie said that she had some extra Wintergreen pattern paper that has been long retired. It was perfect. So This card was born. This is also a layout that I borrowed from Mayra, who will be replacing me in my card making class. As you can see, her and I do have similar styles so my class is going to be just fine.
Stamps: Best Wishes & More, I don't know what the greeting is from, it is retired
Paper: Sage Shadow, Whisper White, Wintergreen DP (retired)
Ink: Sage Shadow
Accessories: White Grosgrain RibbonRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-45519144305824150502009-12-11T08:56:00.001-08:002009-12-11T09:13:46.022-08:00"Ornament Card"
It has been a whirlwind here at my house. I haven't had time to stamp much at all. I am trying to get things organized while Tony is gone to the academy. We are doing fine with out him so far, but as time passes I have a feeling it will be much harder. I did have a chance to stamp last week. I needed to prep for my stamp class. I only have two classes left. I am really going to miss it and hope that I can find a place to teach in Iowa. I told my class last week that I am leaving and that we found another instructor to replace me. When I was thinking about what to make for this class, I decided to channel my replacement. Turns out that we have similar styles so I think the girls will be happy. 4 of the 5 cards we did in the class are semi cases from Mayra, who will be replacing me. This was a fun card to make. I like to use "non traditional" Christmas colors to make it a little more fun. I don't own this set or the punch and am mad that I didn't order it. To be honest, I just looked at my catalog two weeks ago and never even looked at the mini. I have no idea what any of the new sets are called or which ones are the most popular. I have totally been out of the stamping loop for over a year. AGH!!! (well 2 out of 3 of them) Katie (14) is ready to leave today, Molly (7) just wants to live in a house with stairs and wanted to start packing when Tony told her we were moving, and Sarah (8) is absolutely devastated. She has a lot of anxiety and apprehension about the move. She will get over it, but for now I have to watch how I word things around her. (she's my OCD child, she likes things organized, she makes lists, and she likes routines) Moving is not part of her plan. The bad part of the deal is that Tony leaves this weekend for training for 6 months!! The girls and I will be here until the house sells. We are thinking between 4-5 months. It will be tough not having Tony around for 6 months but we are all willing to take that sacrifice in order to get back home.....well, almost home.

I would like to thank all of you for sticking with me while I have been gone. Life took over and I didn't stamp much. I still teach my class once a month but most of those projects were cards and stuff that I have already made so I didn't want to post them again. But I am going to get back into it soon. I miss it soooo much.

Oh one more thing. I have been working out with a personal trainer 3 days a week and I have lost 24.5 pounds in 12 weeks!!! I am a work out machine. I love it. I am at the gym 6 days a week. Three days with my trainer and three days of cardio. I have to be honest, it's hard but now I am starting to see results and I am so happy and proud of myself.

I am going to go for now, I just wanted to give you all an update. And thank you for your e-mails and for sticking around. I do miss you all! And I will be back!

Oh, and if any of you are from the Des Moines area, we are looking for a house to rent in Ankeny. We picked Ankeny cause we know several people that have lived there and loved it, we also heard great things about the schools and the softball programs for the girls.Rochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9036893895049212617.post-23317941240916255972009-08-05T09:00:00.000-07:002009-08-05T09:00:06.127-07:00"Princess Castle"<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Iojpvpeycv4/SndN9ojDHII/AAAAAAAAEV8/02nRyBHFeHE/s320/IMG_4269_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365843202287017090" />
This is one of the stamp sets that Shelly got from her friend. I can't think of the name if it right now either. Anyway, I stamped the castle on the card, and colored it in, the roofs are stickled, which I don't think you can see in the scan. But it looks pretty in real life. I stamped the clouds on the card and then again on a separate piece of paper and cut them out and pop dotted them on top of the ones on the card. This isn't one of my favorite cards but it's cute. Great for a little princess.
Stamps: Stampin' Up
Paper: Pixie Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Stazon Black
Accessories: Markers, Pop Dots, Square PunchesRochelle Whttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149291910601424732noreply@blogger.com3
